Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is characterized by an experience or witnessing an event that hurts or threatens someone's safety, connection to others and/or worth. There are the obvious ones tied to war and abuse and there are the sneaky ones tied to neglect. However it manifests undealt with trauma is harming our rural communities. This leads to increased substance abuse, domestic violence, suicide, stress, heart disease, high blood pressure and so much more. Most of us don't know how to support or help ourselves or our family members that experience singular traumatic events or constantly traumatic events. Many are resistant to getting help because it is a sign of weakness. There are a variety of ways to help, but some of them are not crafted to rural communities. This is a presentation on how to heal from trauma the outdoorsman way.
