Reach for the Stars: Helping Students With Disabilities Excel Through the Library (Room 103 C/D)

Every student matters, and the library is for everyone! In alignment with Title II of the ADA, participants will learn about three different approaches to making school libraries a space for students with the highest needs. This presentation will address considering a Universal Design for Learning model in library organization. It will also include many different ideas so that every school can find ways to make library literacy and media literacy accessible for students with disabilites, no matter what your population or location looks like. Presenters will share the ways they have collaborated within their schools to meet the students' needs and helped them to learn and grow. Administrators, school board members and educators of all kinds will leave the presentation with renewed commitment to inclusion and fresh ideas for how to implement it within their school communities.
