Beyond the Plan: Unifying a District from the Boardroom to the Classroom (Room 101 D/E)

Running a school district is a daunting task; how can a leader create buy in from the school board, principals, educators, support staff, learners and the community to all move in the same direction? This session will tell the story of Franklin Public Schools and how the use of metrics within their school board-adopted strategic plan led to parallel internal and public facing dashboards holding them accountable to ensuring programs were impacting their learners through academic, social-emotional, engagement and Profile of a Graduate metrics. Attendees will see the results that show 73% of metrics showing improvement in the first year and a 10-point jump in the middle school's state accountability measures. The journey includes an annual Leadership Summit to create aligned School Improvement Plans. Additionally, participants will learn about some of the challenges Franklin encountered along the way and the lessons they have learned as they begin to develop their next plan.
