A strategic plan provides a roadmap for achieving a district’s vision, but even the strongest plan can lose momentum without a system for implementation and accountability. This session will share the Mequon-Thiensville School District’s approach to developing annual parallel goals for the board and the superintendent that directly support strategic plan implementation. Participants will learn how the district uses its annual Board Governance Retreat to establish aligned leadership goals, identify measurable action steps, monitor progress through a scorecard and evaluate results throughout the year. Presenters will share practical tools, examples and lessons learned from creating a governance framework that connects long-term strategic priorities to annual leadership actions. Attendees will leave with strategies to strengthen board-superintendent alignment, increase accountability and sustain momentum toward achieving district goals.
