Rural communities face unique challenges in preparing for school violence, from limited resources to long response times and multi‑jurisdictional coordination. In this session, school leaders and first responders from Waushara County will walk you through their countywide unified approach to school safety planning, active violence preparedness and reunification. Using recent full‑scale exercises and real‑world responses as a case study, the panel will highlight how school administration, law enforcement, fire, EMS and emergency management built shared language, clarified roles and conducted trauma‑informed drills that meet Wisconsin DOJ expectations. You will participate in a panel review to identify gaps in your own plans, and leave with a practical checklist and resource links to strengthen your district’s collaborative safety efforts.
