Participants will learn how core physics concepts such as force, tension, friction, and gravity directly impact braiding, locs, and protective styling techniques. They will apply this knowledge to control tension, distribute weight properly, and select techniques that protect scalp health and prevent hair loss.  Students will also strengthen their ability to explain their technical decisions using academic and industry vocabulary, preparing them for real-world client interactions. This topic is relevant and timely as these styling techniques continue to grow, increasing demand for skilled, knowledgeable stylists.  Understanding the science behind styling promotes safer practices, reduces damage such as traction alopecia, and aligns cosmetology education with rigorous academic standards and workforce expectations.
