Panel: Securing the Future of Cyber Warfare—Perspectives form the Department of War’s Principal Cyber Advisors (Room Primary Stage, Hall D)

The cyber domain is rapidly changing as adversary behaviors evolve and emerging technologies like AI have the potential to amplify both risks and beneficial capabilities for our warfighters. To secure our strategic advantage, we must be first movers who are equipped to fully leverage these advancing tools. Moderated by the Assistant Secretary of War for Cyber Policy and the Principal Cyber Advisor to the Secretary of War, Honorable Katherine “Katie” E. Sutton, this exclusive panel brings together the Principal Cyber Advisors—Mr. Brandon Pugh for the Army, Dr. Wanda Jones-Heath for the Air Force, Ms. Anne M. Schumann for the Navy, and RDMIL Amy Grable for the U.S. Coast Guard—to address the practical realities of preparing our warfighters for this ever-evolving domain.

This discussion will explore how each of the Services are approaching cyber risk tolerance, balancing the urgent need to rapidly deploy new AI-enabled cyber capabilities with robust security across the entire AI lifecycle. Panelists will also discuss how they are translating the CYBERCOM 2.0 vision into reality and thinking about the strategic tension between supplying elite forces for CYBERCOM strategic initiatives while maintaining fully equipped, Service-retained defenders. Ultimately, this dialogue will provide a critical blueprint for how the Department is structuring and leading the enterprise to secure the future of cyberwarfare.
