CompTIA Quantum Workshop: Skills That Enterprises Want Quantum-Fluent Cybersecurity Workers to Know (Room Estes B)

For our workshop at AFCEA TechNet Augusta 2026, join CompTIA’s James Stanger on Wednesday, August 19th as he welcomes Gabe Chang, Federal CTO Architect at IBM, who will demonstrate a working quantum computer. Their discussion will focus on critical skills that enterprises expect in a quantum-fluent cybersecurity worker.

Together, they will also explain how quantum is reshaping cybersecurity best practices, and how “quantum” means much more than “harvest now, decrypt later.” They will discuss the impact of quantum on key job skills, including threat modeling, User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA), and incident response. You’ll walk away from the session with a strong awareness of skills that workers can learn in the “here and now” to prepare for quantum, including:

1. Foundational network architectures (e.g., continual monitoring, zero trust)

2. Encryption and PKI

3. Identity and Credential Access Management (ICAM)

4. Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including

5. Cloud infrastructure

6. Project management

Finally, this session will be approved for CE credits. We will also have a drawing for two CompTIA exam vouchers after the event.
