Intelligent Infrastructure Advancements
Building automation systems are evolving as facilities require more connected devices, more data, and greater efficiency. From elevators and lighting to security and environmental monitoring, networks must reliably reach devices across large spaces. Traditional Ethernet’s 100-meter limit and the need for local power often lead to added switches, wiring closets, and higher costs. Single Pair Ethernet (SPE), based on 10BASE-T1L, enables Ethernet communication over a single twisted pair up to 1000 meters. Combined with Single Pair Power over Ethernet (SPoE), it delivers both data and power over one cable, simplifying deployment. This session explores how SPE fits into modern building automation architectures, especially for retrofits where space and infrastructure are limited. It also covers IT/OT convergence, integration with existing Ethernet and fiber networks, and real-world use cases to help reduce installation time, cost, and complexity.
