Energy and water resources are heavily interconnected; energy is needed to collect, distribute, and treat water, while water serves as a critical input in mining, fuel processing, and electricity generation. However, the two resources are often managed in silos, leading to numerous challenges. During this interactive presentation, participants gain foundational knowledge on the various ways energy and water resources interact across sectors, including drinking water/wastewater operations, agriculture, and data centers. In addition to learning insights from collected white papers, the presentation draws on attendees’ experiences to create a shared understanding of common issues related to water and energy management in local communities. Building on this dialogue, participants brainstorm potential regional and national solutions that can simultaneously address water and energy challenges, enhancing affordability, improving reliability, and enabling economic development.
