Regardless of population size or location, human civilization necessitates wastewater treatment. As cities and towns get more remote, the question of effectively treating their wastewater in a manner that preserves the land becomes more prominent. Decentralized wastewater treatment has risen to the challenge of providing the infrastructure needed for these areas. The next step is powering it. By utilizing low energy, high efficiency wastewater treatment systems, rural areas can power an entire wastewater treatment plant using battery and solar power. This is exemplified in the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, to be opened on 4th July, 2026. Off-grid power of wastewater treatment is the way forward for these smaller, more isolated populations.
