EPA’s SWIFT: Supporting Risk Informed Decisions and Projects (Room 125 A&B)

Natural hazards and disasters pose significant challenges to our Nation’s small and rural drinking water and wastewater utilities, often resulting in infrastructure damage that disrupts critical services to their communities. It is crucial that utilities account for these risks and build the resilience of their system when recovering from previous disasters or preparing for the next one. This session will highlight how EPA’s SWIFT initiative delivers direct technical assistance (TA) to drinking water and wastewater utilities to strengthen their ability to assess risks from natural hazards, prioritize mitigation projects, and develop compelling business cases for resilient infrastructure investments. These efforts are designed to reduce service disruptions and safeguard critical assets over the long term.
