Arianna Lageman, Compliance Specialist, Kentucky Rural Water Association
Fifteen years ago, Kentucky ranked among the least compliant states in the nation, driven largely by hundreds of monitoring & reporting violations…many of them preventable. This session tells the story of how Kentucky Rural Water Association (KRWA) developed & evolved a Compliance Check Program designed to catch issues before they became violations. As the Compliance Check Program expanded statewide, managing this work through spreadsheets & manual tracking became increasingly difficult. To scale their efforts and better serve members, Kentucky is partnering with 120Water to develop tools that streamline data review, standardize workflows, & improve visibility across systems. Today, Kentucky is one of the most compliant states in the country & has been recognized nationally for water quality. We will walk through the program’s origin, evolution, lessons learned, and how proactive compliance models & tools can be used to reduce preventable violations.
