Impact Report on EPA’s Water Engineering Support Services (Room 125 A&B)

Tracks: Sustainability

One of the most common hurdles communities face in accessing water infrastructure funding is the completion of required engineering analyses and documentation. In 2024, EPA launched a RealWaterTA initiative to address this challenge to provide water systems with engineering expertise for drinking water, wastewater, & stormwater infrastructure projects, which sets communities on the path to apply for Drinking Water or Clean Water State Revolving Funds (SRF) or associated funding for Tribes and territories. EPA’s Water Engineering Support initiative has since provided assistance to over 100 communities to address aging infrastructure, water supply & quality issues, consolidation efforts, & more! During this presentation, EPA will highlight the variety of infrastructure projects the Water Engineering Support initiative has supported, provide in-depth success stories & share lessons learned to provide this type of technical assistance to communities across the country.
