This session is a basic course in electricity as it relates to pool and spa installations. The course includes: (1) Understanding important parts of the NEC related to pools and spas, (2) the three components of an electrical circuit, (3) the difference between direct and alternating current, and single-phase and three-phase systems, (4) what the terms volt, amp, ohm, and watt mean, and their relationships to each other in an electrical system, (5) how to use simple formulas to calculate power usage, (6) common electrical system devices, (7) meters and the most common types of electrical tests, (8) the basic safety procedures for working with electricity, (9) the steps involved in replacing bulbs and lenses in incandescent pool lights, (10) the common causes of leaks in wet niche lighting systems, (11) the steps to inspect and repair an incandescent pool light.
