Every service pro balances water, and most of us were taught to do it by feel: a little acid here, a scoop of cal-hypo there, retest tomorrow. That guesswork is where callbacks, scaled heaters, etched plaster, and wasted chemical dollars come from. This session shows how the science of water balance (the Langelier Saturation Index and the real relationships between pH, alkalinity, calcium, CYA, and temperature) can be turned into a fast, repeatable, digital process. We will walk through the most common balancing mistakes in the field, including why acid over-dosing at high pH is so easy to get wrong, and how a saturation-index-driven approach prevents it. Along the way I will share what we learned building LSEye.com, a free water chemistry calculator, and what it taught us about where AI genuinely helps a technician and where human judgment still wins. Attendees leave with a clear mental model of water balance, a checklist of the mistakes to stop making, and a free tool they can use on the truck the very next morning.
