This course pairs two seasoned pool industry professionals from opposite coasts — Darren Merlob of LeakTronics (West Coast) and Ed Cohen, CBP-Master, CSP, of The Chaikin Ultimate Group (East Coast) — for a side-by-side comparison of how leak detection and repair differ across the United States. Participants will explore how regional climate, soil conditions, construction methods, seasonal use patterns, and pool types shape both the way leaks develop and the way they are best located and repaired. The course covers gunite versus vinyl-liner construction, freeze-thaw versus seismic damage, drought-driven versus storm-driven water loss, and the distinct toolkits each region's professionals rely on.
