Cable Meets IoT (Room 211-213)

The Internet of Things (IoT) is driving new products and technologies–as well as customer adoption rates. This increased integration presents an exciting opportunity for cable operators to reinforce their value and support customers as they transition to an increasingly interconnected home. Shaw will explore the operator-friendly features of the Open Connectivity Foundation’s ecosystem–while a secure, interoperable IoT device is built to these specs, live, on stage. Alpha will present on outdoor industrial IoT (IIoT) deployments, which are used in smart cities to optimize everything from parking lots to garbage collection. These large, spatially diverse networks consist of remote sensors (“motes”) that communicate wirelessly to network servers via gateways. Alpha’s presentation will show how to densely deploy IIoT gateways on HFC networks to shorten the distance to the motes and increase battery life.
