Look: No Wires ... and Fast Broadband (Room 228-230)

The availability of new spectrum raises the question: Are wired networks absolutely necessary in all situations?  This session explores the capability of wireless network as a substitute for wired connections and covers a field study on Citizens Band Radio Service (CBRS) in rural environments. Specifically, Charter will detail its work to deliver broadband over the CBRS band – in rural areas of Denver, Tampa, Bakersfield, Northern Michigan and Kentucky – 40 miles away from a fiber link. Ericsson will review spectral options for fixed wireless access (FWA), including notable technology advances, economics, and market segments where FWA could outcompete wired alternatives.
