HydroVision International 2019

Session 3F: Payment for Performance: Are Power Markets Changing to Recognize the Value of Hydro? (Room C124)

Compensating hydropower and pumped storage resources in the power markets is a critical need to ensure the continued viability of existing projects and support the development of new projects. The panel will discuss the regulatory and market policy changes that are occurring across the U.S. and Canada and the impact these policies may have in the hydropower industry. Proposals to promote flexible generation, to create new market frameworks to better integrate other renewables, and to compensate for reliability and resiliency attributes will be examined.
