Tracks: Safety Management Systems

Safety in an organization requires more than prevention of vehicle collisions and slips, trips and falls. The social and psychological environment can create significant safety issues. In fact, cultures that allow bullying, hazing, harassment and other forms of workplace violence often experience physical safety issues as a result of these abusive behaviors. In this session, we’ll discuss the similarities and differences of the workplace behaviors that ultimately result in both direct and indirect safety issues, as well as the roles a safety professional should play in preventing these behaviors.
