Petrobras: Automated Solution to Integrate Exploration, Reservoir and Production Management #automation #collaboration #bestpractices #casestudy #analytics #metadata #people

The amount of data that is acquired, stored and analyzed have been increasing quickly in O&G industries forcing companies to re-evaluate their internal data management processes. The adoption of digital transformation solutions as big data analytics, automation, artificial intelligence and cloud technologies shall be considered to explore the interoperability of diverse data types and cross-domain workflows through a shared database. Despite these new technologies, we can still assist work groups by identifying basic communication and information needs. O&G industry involves different disciplines where we can highlight geology, geophysics and engineering. Depending on the size of the company, these teams can live separated and only meet at decision times. From a data management perspective, it is essential to integrate their data to reduce uncertainties and provide better decisions during all asset’s lifecycle and not only in decision moments. Adding monthly oil production data into interpretation software will bring benefits to this process such as: integration between different teams, constant monitoring of production assets and better fit for geological and reservoir models. Petrobras has 46% of the total oil exploration contracts in Brazil (ANP, 2018) and 13% of them are in Campos basin. We used DSIS (DecisionSpace® Integration Server) to join production data with seismic interpretation environment. This is an automated process which is in operation for the assets of the Campos basin and can be expanded to other assets of Petrobras in Brazil. This solution allowed us to develop a training program addressing new collaborative workflows between geoscientists from Exploration and Asset Development departments.
