The three great Athenian playwrights all featured strong women victimized by even stronger men in several of their plays. Clytemnestra, Antigone, and Medea, however, did not accept with docility the ill treatment from the men in their lives, and their tormentors came to rue their actions. Clips from film versions of the plays will depict their situations. The parallel between these ancient characters and their modern counterparts is striking, and comparisons will be made between the Greek tragedies and the #MeToo movement. Once again the old saying nihil novum sub sole is proven true!
