The focus is on responsibilities of leaders at all ranks pertaining to safety from the firehouse to the fireground. It takes officers (line, chiefs, safety), instructors, and firefighters through the steps of teaching and demonstrating safety “thinking” and methods for successful outcomes. Many of the issues discussed are subtle steps to bringing personnel to the realization that safety is a thought process. Attendees are taught how to make their point and at the same time make it palatable for the members to operate within accepted safety practices. The message is, “Safety is a system of programs, method, and research with no none issue as the star.” Among the issues covered are fireground safety, wellness, fitness, nutrition, cancer mitigation, and training safety.
