08 Apr 19
1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Tracks: iWomen Conference

This interactive class focuses on those aspects of leadership not covered in any book, manual, or traditional fire officer curriculum. Students engage in leadership lessons from the firehouse and understand the difference between leading in the station and managing on the fireground and recognize why this leadership vs. management concept is so critical to a company officer. Students learn about the necessity of documentation and discipline at the company and battalion levels. They will work through several atypical scenarios that will force them to think about their own actions. The students will leave with lessons learned from the experiences of other company officers and insight into how to be a successful and safe company officer. The course examines all aspects of company officer leadership and management, communications, documentation, human resource development, and community risk reduction.
