Perimeter Edge Metal for Low-Slope Roof Systems - Design, Testing and Performance (Room Champagne 4)

10 Jun 19
10:15 AM - 11:30 AM

Tracks: Codes, Industry Issues, Low Slope, Low Slope/Commercial, Steep Slope

This course will examine four perimeter edge metal system failures that were observed by the presenter as part of a RICOWI (Roofing Industry Committee On Weather Issues) Wind Investigation. This real-world presentation will discuss the following for each of the failed edge System: - The detail of the installed edge system. - The Design Pressure per IBC for the project where it was installed. - The Load Resistance per ANSI/SPRI ES-1 testing of the installed detail. - Observations of the failed edge and hypothesis on the cause of failure. - How the edge system could be improved, and the tested Load Resistance of the "improved" edge. - The cost difference between the failed edge and the improved edge. This is an interactive presentation where attendees are encouraged to provide their thought on why the observed edges failed, and how they could have been improved.
