A Shared Future: Electrification and Renewable Energy (Room Collaboration Station)

Consumers are driving the nation towards an increasingly electrified future, with electric vehicle adoption leading the way. A proliferation of new EV models will also make it easier for consumers to purchase EVs, with Bloomberg New Energy Finance expecting 289 models to be available for purchase globally by 2022. At the same, we also see dramatic growth in and support for renewable energy generation across the power sector. Building a grid to support these evolving consumer expectations requires infrastructure investments to be made, including but not limited to EV charging infrastructure, renewable energy additions, and transmission/distribution expansion. Are we doing a good job of anticipating the impact of this evolving use of the grid? What should developers, electricity providers, regulators, and policymakers be doing to prepare? This panel will discuss how to approach electrification strategies in a proactive, cost-effective, and efficient manner.

This session is accredited by the State Bar of Texas.
