PROP 65: It's Not About Labels & It's Not About Chemicals - It's about NOT GETTING SUED! (Room 3rd Floor, South Seas G)

30 Oct 18
1:30 PM - 3:00 PM

NAVIGATING CALIFORNIA’S PROPOSITION 65

California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, known as Prop 65, has many fastener suppliers running scared. Scared because there is a real live boogey man, known as a Citizen Enforcer, poised to take thousands of dollars from unaware businesses.

Prop 65 is not new, but it has new teeth that can bite!

Businesses throughout the United States – not just in California have been sued for sums ranging from $5,000 to over $50,000 for something they never saw coming. If your products contain any of the chemicals on the Prop 65 list, you could become a target of a Prop 65 Citizen Enforcer if you fail to provide the proper warnings.

Fortunately, the number of chemicals that affect fasteners is very small, and the risk is highly manageable. Unfortunately, many suppliers are not managing the risk well, and in the process, they create additional risk for themselves and their supply chain partners.

This 90-minute program will give you the essential information you need to understand the Prop 65 risks related to the products you sell. Technical and legal resources will be shared as well as examples of how and when to use Prop 65 warnings. Your presenters, Carmen Vertullo and Rob LaPointe, the founders of AIM Testing Laboratory, are fastener technical experts who have studied Prop 65 extensively for the fastener industry.

The program will be followed by an extensive Q & A session and the presenters will be available after the program and on the show floor for individual consultations.
