Countless chemical additives or treatments are offered which propose to stop sludge problems - but few actually work as promised. ASTM is preparing the final version of a test method to evaluate chemical treatments for control of sludge, fouling and corrosion in distillate fuel systems. This is a description of the test being proposed. Anyone who services heating oil systems or has responsibility for fuel-side problems is encouraged to attend.
