In this session facilitators from the Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE) will highlight key insights from RISE’s survey of college athletes, coaches and staff about their perceptions of the racial climate and social justice work. Participants will learn about RISE’s college offerings and receive a toolkit they can use on campus. Finally, attendees will experience a RISE activity which introduces them to a process for initiating dialogue on their campus. Race, diversity and inclusion are challenging topics. In a climate in which tensions around race and diversity are increased and many athletes are using their platforms to express their opinions about such topics, it is important to have tools and strategies to guide these difficult discussions on campus.
