We are all truly in a turbulent ocean of EMS development today with a high level of unpredictability as we face more challenges than ever before. But we must do more than “survive” these challenges - we need to “thrive” amidst this turbulence if we are to advance EMS in our state and in our communities. This session, led by national EMS attorney Steve Wirth, will identify the top legal, regulatory, and system design issues that are the catalysts for change into the future. We will touch on the operational, financial, regulatory, public relations, and human resource challenge waves that we are striking the sides of our ships. As a group, we will identify strategies for minimizing the impact of these waves and discuss how to best navigate these rough waters to take our state EMS associations - and our EMS providers- into calmer waters in the Sea of Healthcare Reform.
