Tracks: Responder Resiliency & Support

In this powerful session, Annette Hill, a certified therapist and Gold Star Mom who has assisted veterans and first responders struggling with substance use, PTSD, grief/loss and moral injury, will help you understanding the purpose and logic of intense emotions and the purpose they serve for survival and learning. She will focus on the natural emotions that intrude on a responder and what it means when responders cannot contain their emotions. Annette will also address the purpose behind chaos, help you understand emotional bias and baggage, judgements and expectations, and help you understand how, although you may be able to remain professional while on the job and in a heightened state of emotions, you can cope when you are off the clock. Lastly, she will help you learn techniques for calming anxiety while in a heightened state. Come learn anxiety reduction tools you can use anywhere.
