When it comes to eligibility, many school districts are misinformed about which students should receive a referral for special education under the IDEA or Section 504. Attorney Geneva Taylor will discuss real-life scenarios and current law to focus on the various similarities and differences between identifying students who are eligible under Section 504 and the IDEA. In this highly interactive session, participants will break into small groups for discussions, participate in whole group games and show of hand polls, and receive takeaway forms to help staff properly identify students who are eligible for Section 504 and the IDEA. This is a Fundamental Session.
