I8-R | Paraprofessionals — How to Staff and Train for Supporting Student Independence in Core Rigor Learning (Room Sun B)

Your paraprofessionals are your front-line support providers but are often the least adept at providing rigorous support to students. This session will include a review of the national standards for Paraeducator Preparation and strategic guidelines for determining the level of paraprofessional staffing to best support student achievement and independence. Mary Schillinger will also cover a data-driven process for responding to parent requests for aides and guidelines for determining the level of aide support that is appropriate. You'll walk away with a checklist of competencies for effective paraprofessional training, guidelines for fading plans, and tools to assist in ensuring fiscally responsible and supportive levels of paraprofessional support.
