Cable-Tec Expo 2018

The State of Mission-Critical IoT Packets (Room B407)

The majority of today’s IoT devices offer informal conveniences -- automating lights and temperature in a home, for instance -- but as the IoT extends into remote healthcare diagnostics, environmental monitoring, and related mission-critical tasks, packet integrity is critical. In this session, technologists from Comcast and Charter discuss the state of mission-critical IoT packets, in terms of delivery, and edge computing.

Comcast’s Arun Ravisankar investigates how in-building devices could process information from IoT devices, moving portions of cloud-based decision trees closer to the edge of the network.

Charter’s Michael Koberdans introduces an IoT data handling architecture and methods to validate that critical IoT data isn’t dropped along the way from source to destination.
