Virtualizing the CMTS: Who’s Doing What in vCMTS-ville (Room B406)

The promise and potential of virtualizing cable hubs, and thereby virtualizing Cable Modem Termination Systems, has long been of technical and strategic interest to service providers. This three-part session, hosted by technologists with Intel and Harmonic, will examine the impact of vCMTS on energy consumption, impart real-world lessons learned from deploying a vCMTS in a centralized architecture, and show what can happen when machine learning, predictive modeling and continuous learning are applied to CMTS virtualization. Also: Telemetry-based, dynamic cloud orchestration techniques in cable access networks to reduce power and space requirements, and machine learning techniques that predict vCCAP resources.
