Emerging Uses of Blockchain for Security (Room B314)

The number of connected devices is expected to reach into the billions, with the rise of IoT, 4G and smart devices. While virtualization and SDN can reduce network architectural complexity, the matter of securing billions of devices, and maintaining data integrity is a key concern. Blockchain technologies represent a new way to address security concerns by decentralizing security construct, by letting each connected device become part of the overall security signature. This session examines the impact and use of distributed ledgers and related trust mechanisms to protect the network integrity, content, assets, and contracts, while providing new means to generate revenue streams with cryptocurrencies.
