Cable-Tec Expo 2018

Welcome to the Gigabit Generation (Room Exhibit Hall - Innovation Theater)

Presenters:
Charlie Vogt, CEO & President, ATX Networks
Jay Lee, CPO, Access Networking, ATX Networks
Thomas Harton, Senior Director, RF Engineering, Cox Communications

MSOs are moving to distributed access architectures while leveraging their existing HFC access infrastructure to support R-PHY, R-MACPHY, PON, wireless, fixed-wireless (5G), cellular, and commercial services. To accomplish this, the access network must transition from linear analog optical transport to high-speed digital optical transport.  As one of the leading MSOs in the move to DAA, Cox Communications has defined a resilient, cost-effective, and operationally simplistic Gigabit Ethernet DWDM Layer 1 transport solution for connectivity between the headend Layer 2/Layer 3 devices and the end devices deep in the access network. After a brief introduction by ATX CEO Charlie Vogt, Tee Harton, Cox’s Director of HFC Engineering, in conjunction with Jay Lee, CPO of Access at ATX, will discuss Cox’s transition to a distributed access architecture while highlighting the optical transport solution and how it will be deployed into Cox’s networks.
