MSOs are moving to distributed access architectures while leveraging their existing HFC access infrastructure to support R-PHY, R-MACPHY, PON, wireless, fixed-wireless (5G), cellular, and commercial services. To accomplish this, the access network must transition from linear analog optical transport to high-speed digital optical transport.
