The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has a Variable Speed Limit (VSL) corridor along I-80 through Parley's Canyon (between Salt Lake City and Park City). This system currently operates remotely by engineers that are on call 24/7. UDOT is now in the process of developing software and infrastructure that will allow the VSL corridor to operate automatically, based on speeds and road weather conditions. This session will be a panel discussion of UDOT engineers speaking and answering questions about their current and future VSL system.
