Interdrone has been offering this session since the inception of Interdrone, and is pleased to offer it again this year. Jennifer Richter will provide a 2019 update regarding domestic and international efforts to enable suitable communications links for UAS and UAM that will support command / control, remote ID and tracking, payload communications, collision avoidance, and interface with the UTM. She will discuss the current work of the FCC’s Technological Advisory Council, the current status of the AIA Petition for Rulemaking related to 5030-5091 MHz, the ongoing 3GPP standards work for using LTE to support aviation, the FAA’s work on its Section 374 Spectrum Report to Congress, spectrum papers that are being prepared for the 40th Assembly at ICAO, and the safety case that is being built by the FAA and industry related to using the LTE bands to support UAS and UAM.
