Shrinking design schedules and the vital need to improve patient experience is changing the way interdisciplinary teams work. In this workshop, presenters will guide an interactive review and discussion of the design process, utilizing visualization tools that aid in the study and design of complex room types.Participants will be divided into teams and challenged to reimagine the ideal layout for a patient room. The teams will have the opportunity to use full-scale cardboard mock-ups and virtual reality (VR) to explore the room, study ideas, and develop design solutions. The teams will later participate in a collaborative review to share how implementing the tools of mock-ups and VR affected their design process, communication of ideas, and decision-making process.
