Deep Dive Workshops
This deep-dive panel will provide background demographics on the aging patients currently utilizing various healthcare settings. The characteristics of this care population are often overlooked during the design process and are essential to providing supportive designs relative to patient outcomes. Presenters will go into detail on the special needs of the older subset of the patient population with specific focus on issues of vision and hearing impairment and resulting design considerations necessary to respond to those needs. This experiential presentation provides hands-on opportunities to increase design opportunities for improving environments for older adult patients. In turn, universally designed settings can improve all patient, visitor, and staff outcomes, regardless of age.
