Tracks: Behavioral Health Practices

When Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del., relocated its Behavioral Health Department, which had outgrown its existing home, it was determined that the autism program should align with the behavioral health program. Integrated facility design (IFD) and a Lean design approach involving frontline associates were used in the planning and design process. IFD included workshops and mock-ups of critical care spaces. This case study presentation outlines the overall project scope and design process, as well as key design elements that led to creating an autism-friendly space that is engaging for all children.
