Tracks: Clinical Perspectives

When Major Hospital in Shelbyville, Ind., began planning to replace its existing hospital on the heels of the Affordable Care Act, leaders recognized that future healthcare would be heavily focused on ambulatory care. The hospital and the planning and design team recognized that they needed to be on the forefront of new technologies and be innovative with new models of care while respecting the rich history and culture of their community. This team will share operational planning strategies before design, how those strategies informed design and construction, lessons learned, and post-occupancy metrics on patient outcomes, readmissions, observation length of stay, energy savings, and patient and provider satisfaction.
