The National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is among the world's most advanced treatment and research centers for traumatic brain injury (TBI) and psychological health. NICoE is the hub of satellite clinics being built at military bases around the country to treat patients struggling with persistent TBI symptoms. The satellites, or Intrepid Spirit Centers (ISCs), deploy with a templated design that enables speed to market. They function as a healthcare system, establishing core mission protocols and conducting synchronized multi-site research and physical design improvements to the rapidly evolving model of TBI care and rehabilitation.
