The clinicians, patients and researchers at the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute, informed neuroarchitectural design principles based on insights from experts at their 15 centers of excellence in outpatient and diagnostic care for neurology and neurosurgery patients. Pre and post occupancy observations of clinicians and patients will be presented by design team, the client, and Prof. Quilan, MD, who is both a provider and patient. Their Patient Advisory Council represented increasingly prevalent neural conditions including stroke, neurotrauma, Parkinson’s, MS, memory and mood disorders. Evidence-based design solutions consider ambulatory, sensory and cognitive conditions, as well as clinicians delivering advanced medical care and research. Clinical observations, surveys and interviews are included in preliminary results to measure the success of their vision, and the experience of patients and clinicians.
