Tracks: Programming, Planning, and Design

Healthcare facilities have a central role in a community’s resilience and ability to respond to and resume services after major natural disasters. Today’s more intense and complex hazards are challenging traditional assumptions for building capabilities, needs, and redundancies. Should recent high-profile fire and flooding events usher in a new age of proactive building design and construction thresholds for climate-resilient health facilities? This session will answer that question while providing an overview of the tools and resources to assist health systems in assessing risk to new and existing facilities. These health system panelists will also share how they are “weathering the present” and proactively assessing future risk.
