I01 - The Physician Private Office: Need or Negotiation? (Room R01)

03 Nov 19
9:30 AM - 10:30 AM

Tracks: Interactive Roundtable Discussions

Physician transition from assigned private offices to corporate notions of shared private and communal space is occurring across the U.S., driven by inefficient space utilization, real estate costs, and reduced revenues. However, the significance and meaning of the physician private office is not well understood within academic or design circles. This roundtable discussion will detail an ongoing exploration of the real and perceived work-life needs of physicians in a major academic medical institution. Come learn about and discuss the preliminary findings in this active study, including how to use mixed-methods research to drive organizational change.
