This seminar provides Chapters with an overview of the legal parameters for Chapter operations, including what is required to maintain a Chapter as a tax-exempt organization; powers and duties of officers and directors; liabilities of members, agents, officers and directors; indemnification; prohibition on excess benefit/conflicts of interest transactions and the consequences of such transactions; intellectual property issues; the Chapter's filing requirements with both the IRS and SCI headquarters. We will also be discussing necessary disclosures and notices for a tax-exempt organization, legal requirements of fundraising and raffle registration, and IRS forms. You will be provided practical tips on maintaining your books, records and Chapter insurance.
