What do we really know about lion and leopard populations in southern Africa, and the barriers to proper, sustainable management and use? Key knowledge gaps include ecological implications of lion reintroductions, and outdated, untested, or unreliable methods estimating leopard abundance. These needs are especially critical in areas of mixed-use or fragmented habitats bordered by communities. Addressing these knowledge gaps is critical to continue the sustainable use of both species. Come hear we’re doing about it.
